POP Offline Access

POP stands for Post Office Protocol which is a method used in some email software (clients) for downloading email messages from another computer (typically on the Internet).

Using a POP compatible email program, such as Microsoft Outlook, Netscape Communicator or Eudora, you can download your email messages so that they can be read off-line, that is; when your computer is not connected to the network.

POP client set up

To configure your POP (Post Office Protocol) compliant E-mail software to retrieve your ZapZone mail, please follow these steps:
  1. Go to the set up/preferences section of your E-mail software.
  2. Change the Incoming Mail (POP) server to: apop.zzn.com
  3. Change your POP User Name or Account to your full E-mail address (eg. webmaster@mailcentro.zzn.com).
  4. Change your "Reply To" address to your full E-mail address (eg. webmaster@mailcentro.zzn.com).
  5. Your outgoing (SMTP) mail configuration should be that of your Internet Service Provider.
  6. Your password for POP is the same as your ZapZone password.
  7. Choose whether you want to keep messages on the host/server or not.

Keep or Save Messages on the server?

When setting up your POP access in your email software, you will be asked if you would like to keep/save a copy of the messages on the server/host.

Select KEEP - in order to leave a copy of the messages in your web-based email box, and be able to access them anytime from any computer. Select DON'T KEEP - in order to download the messages WITHOUT leaving a copy in your web-based email box. This option will help you save space and keep you from running out of storage space on your ZZN account.
